Meetup 001 - Welcome to my local Author Meetup

Welcome to my local Author Meetup

I recently joined a local Meetup for Authors!

I had just joined and attended one Meetup where I was the only person who RSVP’d, and when I arrived at the cafe, there was a table of about 10 people who were there to see the same organisor/author – but signed up through Facebook instead. The topic wasn’t the one I signed up for, and it was a bit confusing, but it was interesting to hear all the questions people had.

A week ago the Organiser stepped down from the Group of 150+ followers, and Meetup was about to close it down.

They sent an email to all the Members to see if anyone would like to become the Organiser, and I thought about it for about a week.

I went back to see how many people had attended the Meetups in the past year, and it seemed like it was usually just the author, and I wondered if perhaps the Facebook group had become the main one quite some time ago.

I thought it would be a shame to let the Meetup Group disappear, so I decided to put my hand up and say, “Yes please! Pick me!”

Voila! I am now the Author in residence for this Group!

I renamed the Group to: “Everyone Has A Story To Tell – What’s Yours?”

I added in two dates a month apart, and was amazed when I got my first Attendee signed up overnight – fantastic!

We’re meeting on Saturday 10th August, 2019 and I can’t wait!

If you’d love to chat about books you’re writing or have written, or books still in your head, come along to one of my online Author Chats – we’d love to hear about them. Here’s the link:

Hope to see you soon,

Ciao ciao for now,
