Meetup 006 - Saturday 11th January 2020
Today’s Meetup 006 was the first one this year!
What a fabulous Group of authors I had the pleasure to chat with today!
Brian, Bev and Sue had wonderful tales to tell about their writing and projects on the go.
Sue was meeting with us for the first time, and brought along her published book to show us.
What an amazing accomplishment!
Sue found a wonderful publishing company in the UK, and is very pleased with their efforts so far.
We read out two amazing Amazon Reviews on the book, and I took a snapshot of them for Sue so she an publish them on her Facebook page.
I talked about the importance of having a mailing list for BUYERS to sign up for
They can find out more about the characters, storyline or other content on a regular basis. Other followers will be happy to sign up for more information about the Author and their writing projects.
I suggested:
- create a mailing list Form for free using a Google account (for small group of subscriber up to 50)
- share the Form link:
- in the start and back of books to be published
- a couple of times a week on the social media accounts like Facebook, Instagram, Pinterest, Twitter, a website or blog if possible, and any other groups where the author is a Member (and where it is allowed)
- send a monthly email “newsletter” or update to everyone who signs up
- provide some more information an any pat of the book, story or contents to intrigue and delight the readers (your followers, and possible buyers)
- keep the readers interested by talking about progress on other book projects
- let them know when a Book Launch is imminent, to give them the opportunity to get behind you and share your news with their friends and others on social media.
I offered to teach these Authors how to set up their Google Form at the next meeting on 8th Feb:
- everyone is bringing their laptop
- everyone will have a working form by the end of the Meetup
- we will test each other’s Forms to make sure all is working
- we will create “short” links to each form to make it easier to share on social media etc.
If you’d like to join us for the Workshop
See you in February!
PS – it’s my birthday on the 6th Feb, so I’ll be in celebratory mode!
Cheers
